Two things that might work with relinking in Resolve.ġ) Go to Settings/General settings/Conform options. This is a method used in many workflows over the years without too many problems. I'm surprised that Resolve couldn't link to the files from the Avid AAF as this normally works. As long as use use ' Assist using reel names' in Resolve (since the source file name/path info isn't carried across in the metadata) you'll find you'll have tape numbers in MC which will successfully relink the AAF back in Resolve. You can make a stringout of all your clips in a Resolve timeline and export them all as individual MXF OP Atom, which can go directly into the Avid mediafiles folder. I teach my students how to use Resolve in situations where media files are not able to be linked/imported directly into Avid. It is another rabbit hole to dive into it.įeeling frustrated, will manually replace every cut now :(Īvid's tech support answer is that unless you create a proxy clip from Avid, Relink will not work. I have read that it only works if you consolidate everything to separate drive. I decided I would try the roundtrip to Davinci Resolve via AAF and re-grade in Davinici but Resolve cannot recognize the linked clips even though I point it to the media directories. However, what about cases when the Camera itself creates a proxy file, why should I have to re-create proxies in Avid? It still did not work.Īvid's tech support answer is that unless you create a proxy clip from Avid, Relink will not work. I retranscoded the graded clip with the mono track and also changed the timecode manually in the clip in Avid. I did notice 2 differences in the clips that I had missed before - for some reason the timecode on my original clip does start 1:00 but at 5:36 and the audio on the graded track defaulted to "stereo" vs mono. I tried doing what you described but could not get it to work. Thank you for the continued input, Bruno.
